The Strange Dream I Had

I live with my Mom in a rented house. I’m now 12. My life has been tied around ghosts. My Mom’s side believes in ghosts, but my Dad’s side doesn’t. I lived in this rented house from forth grade through now sixth grade.

Around fifth grade I had this dream. When I was sleeping, I was thinking, someone is in the house, someone is in my room. I woke up and I thought I saw a dark figure standing on the left side of my  bed who disappeared in a split second. When I saw this, my heart was thumping like crazy. In a few minutes I calmed down and went back to sleep. This happened again one or two more times.

The next day I brushed it off. I wanted to tell someone about it, but yet I didn’t. My Mom and I went over to my grandparents’ house. It was almost time to go when my Mom was going to say something. She said, “I had this strange dream last night.” When she said this my heart began pounding again and I knew what she was about to say. She had the same dream I had.

I said,”I had that same dream too!” When this happened, I became even more interested and scared about ghosts. I didn’t want to go home anymore. This never happened again, but I’m now afraid to sleep in the dark.

When I was little, I wasn’t afraid to sleep in the dark, but since I became more afraid of ghosts I’m now afraid of the dark. Now, I sleep in the dark once in a while. I’m not afraid to go home anymore. My Mom thinks it was just a big coincidence, but I think it’s more than that.
